Shape advice drinking bowl
What shape should a good drinking bowl for cats have?
If the drinking bowl has a sufficient inner diameter for the length of your cat's whiskers and is filled almost to the brim, the shape of the side wall only plays a subordinate role – in contrast to the food plate. With the cat's special drinking technique, her head remains in one place and only the tongue and lower jaw are in motion. This means that their whiskers do not actually touch the side wall. Should this nevertheless be the case, it is only important that the side wall is not vertical. It can be slanted straight outwards or concave (curved inwards) – in both cases the whiskers are deflected upwards. The side wall can also be convex (curved outwards), as the ground does not play a role as resistance if the depth is sufficient. In this case, the whiskers are deflected downwards. However, the side wall should not be vertical. This can lead to extremely unpleasant whisker stress for your cat due to the whisker resistance. And we want to avoid this at all costs. Of course, all this was taken into account when designing the Albanine & Knuffl® Drinking Bowls for Cats. And of course they are also round – for easy cleaning.
Now that you know, make your cat happy!
