What material should a good placemat for cats be made of?
In order to answer this question, we first need to define the scope and requirements.
So, what's the purpose of a placemat for cat dinnerware? Essentially, two things. First, to save your nerves, meaning protecting the floor. And second, to ensure that the cat plates don't slide or get pushed around during use. Now, of course, you might say: "But there are bowls with rubber feet that don't slip." Okay, but how many dishwasher cycles will these rubber feet stay on the bowl? We all know the answer.
The requirements for the material are as follows: it should of course be non-toxic, food-safe and neutral in taste and odour. After all, your cat will eat on or directly from the mat if a tasty morsel is dropped. The material should also be as non-slip as possible. And one thing is clear: it must be easy to clean. In other words, it should have good non-stick properties so that wet food practically doesn't stick and can therefore be wiped off easily. And it must also be dishwasher-safe.
